Sphereing (Zorbing, orbing) is the recreation of rolling downhill in a Sphere / Zorb, generally made of transparent plastic.
Sphereing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control. In the absence of hills some operators have constructed inflatable, wooden or metal ramps.
There are two types of spheres, harnessed and non-harnessed. Non-harness orbs carry up to three riders, while the harness orbs are constructed for one to two riders. Double-harness spheres have different slope requirements, and must only be operated in specific locations. The longer runs are approximately half a mile. The first sphereing site was established in UK, by Robert Price of SphereMania.
The concept is simple, two people wearing full body harnesses are attached inside the Sphere, then rolled down a hill at up to 30mph. Harness Sphereing is not for the faint-hearted and could not be described as a gentle ride! More importantly though it'll be the most fun and biggest adrenaline rush you may ever experience.
Aqua Sphereing is a completely different beast. You, some (very) close friends and 30-50 litres of water - a recipe for extreme entertainment. If you've ever wondered what it might be like inside a washing machine... well you get the idea.
Like the Harness Sphere, you will be wearing a full harness and will be attached inside the ball. But once it gets going it's a different story. In total darkness, you and a friend will career down the hill at speeds of up to 30mph. It's an adrenaline pumping thrill ride. Its extreme and its intense. But don't take our word for it. Try it yourself!
